If a wire ligature comes loose simply remove it with sterile tweezers. If the ligature does come off you can try to replace it with a pair of sterile tweezers. Use a sterile tweezers to put your rubber ligature back in place if it comes off. If a rubber band should come off you may be able to put it back in place using sterile tweezers.

In case your wire ligature comes loose take it out with a sterile tweezers. Gap bands are small elastics or rubber bands tied or looped around two teeth to close a space or gap. Replace lost or broken rubber bands immediately. The band holds the wire to the bracket creating the pressure that moves your teeth.

Orthodontic bands used with traditional braces are often used as gap bands but they re not.
